Panel Board And Its Types:
The load center (also has the metering device) is the point from where the power and electricity branch out, reach to the different circuits, and is distributed to the switchboards, lighting, and appliances. Carefulness ensures that the power distribution system is safe and also has features and capabilities for future load extension.
The panel boards are used widely in various industries for controlling power circuits, heat, and light. They are usually mounted against the wall or placed in it, within a cabinet box. A panel board may consist of a single or multiple panels, and may also have the switches for controlling the electrical current, heat, light, and appliances.
The panel boards can be broadly classified into two types. These include:
Appliance and Lighting Panel Boards- This panel contains the over-current devices. It also has a neutral connection.
Power Distribution Panel Boards- These panel boards are the points where the incoming electricity is divided into subsidized currents.
NEMA Electrical Enclosures And Types:
National Electrical Manufacturers Association or NEMA has a gradation system for rating and classifying the electrical enclosures that are used in the American industrial work environment and scenarios. The rating will help you know whether the panel can resist environmental degradation, corrosion, and other adverse agents. A leading electrical panel manufacturer offers all varieties of the panel, and also the customized electrical enclosures.
Type 1 Enclosures:
The NEMA Type 1 enclosure is the most general purpose and basic kind of electrical panel that is placed indoors and at places where the environmental conditions are normal. The main purpose of the panel is to prevent anybody to come in contact with the live wires. Seen the least in the industrial environments, these electrical conclusions are not watertight or waterproof.
Type 3R Enclosures:
This variety of electrical enclosure can be used outdoor and indoor. It can offer better resistance to sleep, rain, and snow when compared to the Type 1 enclosure and panel. These enclosures can also tolerate the formation of ice on the outside while keeping the inner components safe.
Type 4 Enclosures:
These enclosures have better water tightness. They also keep the inner components safe from the dust and wind blow, while creating an effective barrier between electrical/live components and the people nearby. These kinds of enclosures are usually found in the water treatment plants, dairies and in the ship dock outdoor areas.
Type 4X Enclosures:
Apart from possessing all the features found in the Type 4 enclosures, the type 4 X enclosures can also resist corrosion. Their use is more common in the pharmaceutical and food industries.
Types 5 Enclosures:
The electrical enclosures can resist dripping water, lint, dust and minor water splashes. it is used in the cement plants and steel mills, among other industries. The Type 5 enclosure has the gaskets that make it dust tight.
Type 12 and 12K:
The general purpose electrical enclosures are used indoors and offer protection against non-corrosive liquids, dirt, and dust. They also resist rusting.
In the industrial scenarios, electric wiring can be of 240V, 480V, 600V or even up-to 2500V. Therefore it is good to have all the information while choosing an electrical panel manufacturer and unit for an industrial, commercial, or any other scenario and environment.
